Speed and app weight
Auditing what each app loads on every page and replacing the heaviest with theme code that does only what you need. Usually the quickest measurable improvement available.
Shopify removes most of the infrastructure problems and leaves you two that matter: how fast the store is on a phone, and whether your catalogue can be found at all. We build and fix both, and because we also run the Shopping feeds, the product data gets done once rather than twice.

Quick answer
Two things, usually. Speed on a phone, and whether the catalogue is findable. Shopify handles hosting, payments and scale, so the ceiling is rarely infrastructure. It is apps slowing every page, and a collection structure that cannot rank for anything broader than a product name.
App weight is the commonest speed problem. Each app adds scripts to every page, and stores accumulate them the way WordPress sites accumulate plugins. Several apps can usually be replaced by a small amount of theme code that does exactly the needed job, which is both faster and one less subscription.
Findability is a structural question. Collection pages, not product pages, hold the terms with real search volume. A store with good products and thin, automatically generated collections is competing for exact product names and giving away everything broader. Shopify's default URL and tag behaviour also creates duplicate space that needs deliberate handling.
The product data behind both is the same data that feeds Google Shopping. Doing it once, properly, serves organic search, the Shopping feed and AI comparison answers together, which is why we would rather run those alongside each other than separately.
What we do
Eight areas. Speed and catalogue structure are the usual starting points.
Auditing what each app loads on every page and replacing the heaviest with theme code that does only what you need. Usually the quickest measurable improvement available.
Custom themes and substantial modifications, built so updates remain possible rather than forking the theme into something nobody can upgrade.
Private apps for the things Shopify does not do and the app store charges monthly for. Often cheaper within a year and considerably lighter.
The structure that decides whether the store ranks for anything broader than product names, including deliberate handling of tag and filter URL space.
Product data fixed at source so the feed, the store and the structured data agree. Done once rather than patched separately in three places.
Onto Shopify from WooCommerce, Magento or custom, with URL mapping product by product and verification after launch.
Connecting the store to ERP, finance, warehouse and fulfilment systems so stock and orders stop being reconciled by hand.
Making product data machine-readable enough that assistants can include you when a buyer asks them to compare options.
Why stores stall
The pattern repeats: a well-presented store, slow on mobile, ranking only for exact product names.
Store fast enough? Catalogue findable?
Those are the two questions that decide a Shopify store. The review answers both, and it is free.
How we work
Speed and structure first, because they decide what everything else is built on.
Store speed on a phone, app load, collection structure, URL space and the Shopping feed, looked at together. Free, in writing.
Reduce app weight, replace the heaviest with theme code, and fix image and script delivery at the cause.
Collections written to hold the terms with volume, duplicate URL space handled, product data corrected at source.
Organic, Shopping and AI visibility run together, so the same product data serves all three.
Clear scope · Regular demos · Full handover
Honest fit
A small, fast, tidy store may need very little from an agency.

Ask about your projectAlmost always app weight. Each app adds scripts to every page, and stores accumulate them over time. Images served larger than they display and a theme doing too much work on load are the other two. All three are fixable without leaving Shopify.
Frequently, and it is often cheaper within a year as well as much lighter. Several apps each doing a fraction of what you need can usually become one small piece of theme code or a private app that does exactly the job and loads only where it is used.
Usually because they were generated automatically and have no content beyond a product grid. Collection pages hold the terms with real search volume, so a store with strong products and thin collections competes for exact product names and gives away everything broader.
Yes, from WooCommerce, Magento or custom platforms. The part that decides whether it goes well is URL mapping, done product by product and verified after launch rather than by pattern. That is where the large traffic losses happen.
Yes, and we would rather do both. The product data that feeds Shopping is the same data that decides organic visibility and whether AI assistants can include your products. Fixing it once at source beats patching it separately in three places.
Only at certain volumes or for specific needs like checkout customisation and multiple storefronts. Below that the standard plan usually does the job and the difference is better spent elsewhere. We will give you a straight answer rather than an upsell.
Yes. Stock, orders, pricing and customer records between Shopify and finance, warehouse or ERP systems is ordinary integration work and it is a large part of what we do outside ecommerce.
Yes. Theme code and private apps are yours, in your repositories, running in your Shopify account. We do not build things that stop working when the relationship ends.
It depends on the size of the site and the scope of the work, so we do not publish a fixed price: the honest range is wide. The first conversation and the audit are free, and the quote follows them, in pounds, once we both know what the work actually is.
