Installing SpideyChat on Shopify

Installing it
Edit your theme's code, open theme.liquid, and place the script immediately before the closing body tag. Duplicate the theme first so you can revert.
It then appears across the storefront. Checkout is separate and generally should not carry it.
What a store bot needs to know
- Delivery — times, costs, destinations, cut-offs
- Returns — window, condition, who pays postage
- Sizing and compatibility, per category
- Stock and availability expectations
- Payment methods and any finance options
Delivery and returns are the two questions that decide purchases. Getting those answers right and instant does more for conversion than product copy does.
Do not put it on checkout
A buyer with their card out should not be offered a conversation. Every distraction at that point costs money.
Answer the delivery and returns questions on the product page instead, which is where they are actually being asked.
Keep it current with the catalogue
- Recrawl after significant catalogue changes
- Update the delivery document when carriers or cut-offs change
- Refresh seasonal information — Christmas cut-offs especially
- Remove discontinued lines so it stops recommending them
Read what shoppers ask
The unanswered-question log for a store is unusually valuable, because it names the product information you are missing.
“Does this fit a…” asked forty times is a product page that needs a compatibility section, and that section will earn its keep in search too.
