Local SEO for dentists decides whether a patient with a cracked tooth on a Saturday finds your practice or the clinic two streets over. If your profile has the wrong category, thin services and a handful of old reviews, Google Maps has little reason to show you, however good the care is.
Thanks, that’s with us.

Local SEO for dentists means making your practice the clear answer when someone nearby searches for a dentist, an urgent appointment or a specific treatment. Most of the work happens on your dental Google Business Profile, supported by your website, consistent directory listings and genuine patient reviews.
Google says it ranks local results mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. You cannot move your building, so the work goes into the other two: a category that fits most appointments, accurate services and hours, real photos, and dentist Google reviews that describe the visit. The local pack usually shows only three businesses, so small gaps matter.
Dental SEO in Canada also comes with rules most businesses never face. Provincial dental regulators set advertising standards that often restrict testimonials and claims of superiority, and reviews can contain health information. We write with that in mind, flag anything you should check against your regulator's advertising standard, and leave every clinical claim to you.

What's included
What we do on a dental practice profile
We implement every item ourselves.
01
Category setup
We choose the primary category that matches most of your appointments, usually Dentist, then add categories such as Cosmetic dentist, Pediatric dentist or Emergency dental service only where the practice genuinely offers that care. Specialist practices start from their own category.
02
Practitioner listings
Google's guidelines allow some public-facing practitioners a listing of their own. We check whether separate dentist listings help patients or split your reviews, clean up duplicates and listings left by associates who have moved on, and point each one to the right booking page.
03
Services and treatments
Services built around how patients search: check-ups and cleanings, fillings, crowns, root canal treatment, implants, whitening, clear aligners and children's dentistry. Each is described plainly, without outcome promises or comparisons with other practices, and you approve the wording.
04
Insurance and first-visit questions
Patients want to know whether you direct bill, whether you are accepting new patients and what a first visit involves. We answer these in the description, services and website, and in Q&A where Google shows it, using only details you confirm.
05
Holiday and special hours
Regular hours plus special hours for Family Day, Victoria Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays, set before each long weekend. If you keep emergency slots, the profile describes them exactly as you offer them.
06
Photos that build trust
Exterior and signage shots help patients find you; reception, treatment rooms and sterilization area photos show what to expect; team photos, taken with each person's consent, put faces to names. Before-and-after images can fall under your regulator's advertising standard, so check it before we publish any.
07
Review requests
Requests go to every patient, not only the happy ones, with CASL in mind: each message identifies the practice and includes an unsubscribe option. No incentives, no filtering and no reviews written by staff. Our Google review management service covers the full process.
08
Careful review replies
Replies that thank the reviewer without confirming they are a patient, naming a treatment or discussing records. Critical reviews get a calm, general reply and an invitation to call the office, so any discussion about care moves off a public page.
Reviews and health information
Replying to patient reviews without adding detail
A review that mentions a root canal still involves health information. Your reply is public and lasting, so it should add nothing. Check your regulator's guidance and your privacy obligations before replying to anything sensitive.
Replies to avoid
Confirming the reviewer is or was a patient
Mentioning a treatment, appointment date or outcome
Debating a clinical decision in public
Offering a refund or discount in return for an edit
A safe reply
Thanks the reviewer without confirming they were seen
Describes the practice's general approach, not their visit
Invites them to call the office
Keeps the same calm tone for one star and five
Urgent care searches
Emergency and after-hours dental searches
Someone with a swollen jaw at 9 pm wants to know who is open now, and the open now filter in Google Maps relies on the hours you list. Only add the Emergency dental service category if you genuinely see urgent cases. Our Google Business Profile guide shows how these pieces fit together.
How it works
Our process for dental practices
Five steps, starting with the free audit.
1. Audit
We score your dental Google Business Profile out of 100, run a geo-grid snapshot for your main search, and check categories, duplicates, practitioner listings and hours. The free local SEO audit ranks the fixes by what they are worth.
2. Fix and optimize
We correct categories, write the description within the 750-character limit, build the services list and add photos. Anything that reads as a testimonial or a superiority claim is flagged for you to check against your regulator's advertising standard before it goes live.
3. Reviews and citations
A consent-aware review request flow, reply templates that never confirm a patient relationship, and matching details across Canadian directories through our local citation building work.
4. Posts and content
Short posts on new patient availability, holiday hours or a new associate joining, plus plain website pages for the treatments patients search for, reviewed by you before anything is published.
5. Track and report
Monthly geo-grid tracking for searches like dentist, emergency dentist and children's dentist, with calls and booking clicks from your own Google accounts. No one can guarantee a map pack position, so each report shows what changed and what comes next.

FAQ
Local SEO for dentists questions, answered
The things Canadian business owners ask before they commission anything. If yours is not here, put it in the form.
Still have a question?
Ask us directly. A specialist reads every message.
Can a dental practice have more than one Google Business Profile?
One per real location, and Google's guidelines also allow some public-facing practitioners to have their own listing. Whether separate dentist listings help depends on how your practice is organized. We check for duplicates and outdated associate listings first, because those often split reviews and confuse patients.
02
Can we use patient testimonials in our Google posts?
Check your regulator's advertising standard first, because many provincial dental regulators restrict testimonials. Reviews sit on your profile because patients chose to write them, which is different from republishing them as advertising. We do not quote reviews in posts or on your website unless you confirm your regulator allows it.
03
How should we reply to a review that mentions treatment?
Reply without confirming the person is a patient or adding any detail about care. Thank them, describe the practice's general approach and invite them to contact the office directly. Never discuss diagnoses, appointments or records in public, even when the reviewer has already shared those details.
04
Can we offer a discount for leaving a Google review?
No. Google does not allow incentivised reviews, and the Competition Bureau treats fake or misleading reviews as deceptive marketing under the Competition Act. Ask every patient the same way, with no reward and no screening out of unhappy patients, and make sure email or text requests meet CASL requirements.
05
Should we list insurance and direct billing details on our profile?
Yes, if they are accurate and you keep them current. Many patients ask about billing before they book, so a clear answer helps. Put the detail in your description and services, repeat it on your website, and remove it promptly if your arrangements change.
06
How long does local SEO for dentists take to work?
It depends on your starting point, your location and nearby practices, so we do not promise a timeline. Fixes to categories, hours and services happen in the first weeks, while reviews and prominence build more slowly. The monthly geo-grid report shows where you appear as things change.
