Emergency call triage
Asks your screening questions (is water still running, is anyone without heat, is anything sparking or burning) and separates true emergencies from jobs that can wait for the morning.
Your techs can't pick up from a crawl space or a roof, and a homeowner with no heat or a flooded basement won't wait for a call back. We build an AI receptionist for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing and pest control companies that triages emergencies by your rules, checks the job is in your service area and hands it to dispatch. We are a UK-registered company with no US office, working with US contractors remotely by video call in your time zone.
Thanks, that’s with us.

Quick answer
An AI receptionist for home services answers your business line while you and your techs are on jobs. It finds out what the problem is, where the property is and how urgent it is, then does what your best CSR would do: books a routine job, hands a real emergency to the on-call tech or dispatcher, or takes the details for an estimate and asks the homeowner to text photos. It is a custom build on top of our AI receptionist, set up around your trade, your prices and your service area.
Emergency calls come first. If a caller smells gas, the receptionist does not take a booking. It tells them to leave the building right away, not to use light switches or phones inside, and to call 911 or the gas utility's emergency number from outside. For a carbon monoxide alarm it tells them to get everyone into fresh air and call 911. For no heat, no cooling, a burst pipe, a sparking panel or a roof leak, it follows your rules on what counts as urgent, what your after-hours fee is and who to call.
SpiderHunts Technologies Ltd is registered in the UK, with its registered office in London. We have no US office, no US entity and nobody on a US payroll. We work with US companies remotely: video calls scheduled in your working hours, prices and invoices in US dollars, and call data kept in a US cloud region you choose. Not sure how many calls you miss today? Start with the missed call check.
What it handles
Set up around your trade, your prices and your service area. These are the call types home service companies usually hand it first.
Asks your screening questions (is water still running, is anyone without heat, is anything sparking or burning) and separates true emergencies from jobs that can wait for the morning.
Recognizes a suspected gas leak or a CO alarm, gives the safety steps and tells the caller to call 911 or the gas utility from outside, then logs the call for you.
Transfers urgent calls to the on-call tech or dispatcher with the address, the problem and the answers to your questions, or texts them a job summary if they can't pick up.
Checks the caller's ZIP code against your service area, mentions any trip charge you set and politely declines jobs you don't cover.
Books tune-ups, inspections, estimates and maintenance plan visits into your schedule, with the time window, access details and any pets on site.
Takes the job details, texts a link for photos or a short video and adds the request to your job system so an estimator can price it before the visit.
Calls missed on the job
When every tech is on a job, the business line is a cell phone in someone's pocket or a CSR who is already on another call. A call that rings out is a homeowner who may call the next company on the list.

Examples
Illustrative examples of what we build, not client results.
Asks whether anyone vulnerable is in the home, what the thermostat shows and whether the system is making any noise, then hands qualifying calls to the on-call tech and books the rest for the next available window.
Aim: the on-call tech only gets the calls that meet your rules
Tells the caller where to find the main shutoff if they don't know, asks whether water is still running, and dispatches emergencies or books drain and water heater jobs into the schedule.
Aim: water emergencies reach the on-call plumber, routine plumbing is booked without a call back
Tells anyone reporting smoke or fire to get out and call 911, separates a tripped breaker from a dangerous fault using your questions, and books panel upgrades, EV charger quotes and inspections.
Aim: dangerous calls handled safely, project inquiries captured in full
Takes the address, roof type and whether water is coming inside, requests photos by text, books inspections and flags active leaks for a tarp crew if you offer one.
Aim: busy post-storm phones handled without losing the details
Asks what the pest is and where, explains your initial service and recurring plan prices as you set them, and books the first visit. Anyone reporting a reaction to a sting is told to call 911.
Aim: new customers booked on the first call
Books seasonal tune-ups for maintenance plan members, answers what the plan includes from your terms and passes renewal or billing questions to the office.
Aim: plan visits booked without tying up the office
Answers after-hours calls at the times you choose, explains your after-hours fee, dispatches emergencies and leaves the office a clean list of routine jobs to confirm in the morning.
Aim: no homeowner left with only a voicemail greeting
Works out which branch covers the caller's ZIP code and follows that branch's schedule, on-call rotation and pricing.
Aim: the same call handling at every branch
How we work
Six steps, run remotely by video call in your working hours. You hear it on a test line before any customer does.
We go through who answers the phone today, when calls peak, what counts as an emergency and how jobs get into your field service software. We agree what always goes to a person.
Week 1We write the call flows, the emergency screening questions, the safety wording and your fee explanations. You approve every rule before it is built.
Week 1We connect a US phone number or forward your existing line, link your field service software or a workaround where there is no access route, and set up dispatch hand-off.
Weeks 1 to 2We load your services, prices, service area and policies, then test it on realistic calls, including panicked, angry and confused callers.
Weeks 2 to 3It usually starts on after-hours and overflow calls while your office reads every call summary, then takes on daytime calls when you are ready.
Typically weeks 2 to 4We review transcripts, update prices and seasonal offers and adjust triage questions as you learn. Optional monthly support covers this.

Is it right for you?
Some companies already have the phones covered. If that is you, we'll say so.
Your options
Many companies combine them: the AI takes after-hours and overflow calls, and people handle sales calls, complaints and anything delicate.
| What matters | Custom AI receptionist | Answering service | In-house CSRs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Emergency triage | Your questions, asked the same way every call | Depends on the operator and script | Depends on training and experience |
| Creates jobs in your software | Where your software allows access | Usually a message or email | Yes |
| Service area check | ZIP code checked on the call | If it is in the script | Yes |
| Busy days after a storm | Can take several calls at once | Depends on the provider's staffing | Limited by headcount |
| Nights and weekends | Whenever you set | Depends on the plan | Only if someone works those shifts |
| How you pay | Setup fee, optional monthly support, call usage | Per call, per minute or monthly | Wages, overtime and training |
Pricing
The price depends on how many call types it handles, how your field service software connects and how many branches it covers. You get a written quote with scope and exclusions agreed up front.

Technology
Speech recognition turns the caller's words into text, and we add your equipment brands and trade terms to its vocabulary. A large language model, the kind of AI behind ChatGPT and Claude, works out what the caller needs. Retrieval over your own information (RAG) means price and policy answers come from documents you approve. Text-to-speech replies in a clear voice, and APIs connect it to your schedule. The field service systems below are examples of systems we can integrate with; what is possible depends on the access each one allows and your plan with that vendor.
Trades
What counts as an emergency, what to ask and who to call changes with the trade, so each one gets its own call flow.
FAQ
The questions US contractors ask before they sign, answered plainly.
Still have a question?
Ask us directly. A senior engineer reads every question.
Ask about your projectOften, yes, but it depends on the access each system and your plan provide. Where there is an API or an online booking route, the receptionist can create the job or booking directly. Where there isn't, it sends a structured job summary by text or email for your office to enter. We check your system during discovery, before we quote.
Safety comes before anything else. For a suspected gas leak it tells the caller to leave the building right away, not to use light switches, appliances or phones inside, and to call 911 or the gas utility's emergency number from outside. For a CO alarm it tells them to get everyone into fresh air and call 911. Only then does it log the call for you. You approve the exact wording.
By your rules, not its own. We write the screening questions with you, for example whether water is still running, whether anyone vulnerable is without heat or whether anything is sparking. Calls that meet your rules go to the on-call tech or dispatcher; the rest are booked or taken as a job request for the morning.
No. It does not diagnose over the phone. It explains the fees you have set, such as a diagnostic or trip charge, and takes the details and photos your techs need. Repair prices come from your techs after they have seen the job.
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. SpiderHunts Technologies Ltd is registered in the UK (Companies House number 16718403), with its registered office at 182-184 High Street N, London E6 2JA. There is no US office, no US entity and nobody on a US payroll. We work remotely, and every meeting is a video call scheduled in your working hours, whichever US time zone you are in.
Yes. The receptionist can answer on a new US local or toll-free number, or you can forward your existing business line to it. Business text messages in the US need A2P 10DLC registration with the carriers, which we set up with your phone provider.
Calls can be recorded and transcribed so your office can check them. Some states require every party to consent to a recording, so the greeting says the call is answered by an AI and may be recorded, in wording you approve. Recordings are kept in a US cloud region you choose, for as long as you decide.
Setup starts from $1,900 and optional monthly support from $190, excluding any sales tax. Call minutes, text messages and phone line charges are billed by the providers and estimated in your quote. You get a written quote in US dollars with scope and exclusions agreed up front, and we invoice in US dollars by ACH, wire or card.
Yes. It says so at the start and offers a person whenever asked. Complaints, billing disputes and anything delicate are passed to your office or taken as a message rather than handled by the AI.
