Local SEO by suburb and region
Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect and Bing Places set up properly for each real location, service areas drawn around where you actually work, and a review routine your staff will keep up.
Technical SEO, suburb-level local search, content and AI search for businesses from the CBD and Richmond to Dandenong, Werribee and Geelong. Our background is software, so templates, redirects and schema get changed in your site rather than written up for someone else. The work is done remotely by a UK-registered company with a remote team, with calls booked on Melbourne time.

Quick answer
It should put your business in front of the people in Melbourne already searching for what you sell, in the three places they now look: the ordinary Google results, the map results for any search with a suburb or “Melbourne” in it, and the answers AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews give when someone asks for a recommendation. Good SEO services in Melbourne cover all three, because they rest on the same site, content and facts about your business.
Melbourne adds one thing that shapes almost every plan: it sprawls from Werribee to Pakenham, and search behaves differently across it. Proximity to the searcher is one of the strongest signals in Google’s map results, which is why a Richmond clinic seldom reaches people searching from Box Hill or Frankston, however good its site is. A plan starts with where your customers really are and which suburbs you genuinely serve.
We are SpiderHunts Technologies Ltd, registered in the UK with a registered office in London, and everyone on the team works remotely. There is no Melbourne office, and we have no staff, entity or phone number anywhere in Australia. Calls fit your working day on Melbourne time; between them the work runs in writing, and no live page changes until you approve it.
What we do
Eight areas of work. The audit shows which ones are holding you back, and we start with the change worth most rather than working down a checklist.
Google Business Profile, Apple Business Connect and Bing Places set up properly for each real location, service areas drawn around where you actually work, and a review routine your staff will keep up.
Crawling, indexing, rendering, speed and Core Web Vitals, fixed once in the template so every page built from it benefits. A page Google never crawls cannot rank, however well it is written.
Service pages and guides built around what Melbourne buyers type, answering their questions plainly. Thin suburb pages get merged or retired.
Pages shaped so an assistant or an AI Overview can lift the answer directly: the question asked the way people ask it, answered early, with structured data to match.
Separate URLs for each language, hreflang that points both ways and keyword research done in the language itself, for businesses whose customers search in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Greek or another language.
Category structure, faceted navigation and product templates for Melbourne retailers selling online, on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or a custom build.
Redirect maps built from the full list of old URLs and checked after launch, so a new site, a rebrand or a move to a .com.au address keeps what the old one earned.
Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, analytics and enquiry tracking set up in your own accounts, plus AI assistant answers checked over time. The history stays with you.
Local search
Google ranks map results on relevance, distance and prominence. In a city this wide, distance does more of the work than most owners expect.
Someone in Footscray searching for a physio, an electrician or a dentist is shown businesses near Footscray, and someone in Ringwood sees a different list. So a business can do well in the map results around its own premises and be invisible fifteen kilometres away. Keyword work does not move your address, so the honest question is which areas you can realistically reach and how.
For a storefront, such as a cafe in Collingwood or a clinic in Glen Waverley, the profile sits on the real address and the job is to be the most relevant, best-reviewed option nearby. For a service-area business, such as a tradie covering Casey and Cardinia, the address can be hidden, but the map still favours searchers near the base, so the website carries more of the load further out.
That is where suburb pages come in, and where many Melbourne sites go wrong. Hundreds of pages identical apart from the suburb name rarely rank. A few pages for the regions you really cover, such as the inner north or the Mornington Peninsula, each with the jobs you do there and answers to local questions, usually do far more. People here also search by region as much as by suburb, “eastern suburbs” or “bayside” for example, so we check what they actually type before deciding which places deserve a page.
Many languages
Many Melbourne customers search in a language other than English. For some businesses that is the biggest gap on the site.
A dental clinic in Box Hill, a pharmacy in Springvale or an accountant in Oakleigh may serve many customers who are more comfortable searching in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese or Greek. If the site only exists in English, those searches go to whoever has a page in that language.
Where the demand justifies it, we handle the structure: a separate URL for each language, hreflang that links the versions both ways, and keyword research done in the language itself rather than translated from English. The copy should be written or checked by a native speaker, from your side or a writer you choose; we do not claim an in-house writer for every language.
AI search
Assistants increasingly answer the “who should I use” question directly. They can only recommend businesses they can find and understand.
When someone asks ChatGPT for a good accountant in the CBD, or Gemini for an architect who works on period homes in Kew, the assistant builds its answer from pages it can fetch and from what other sources say about each business. AI SEO is the work of becoming one of those sources: pages that answer the question directly, company facts that agree everywhere they appear, and structured data that names what you do and which parts of Melbourne you serve.
Some AI crawlers read only the raw HTML and skip JavaScript, so a site that assembles its content in the browser may rank in Google yet look nearly blank to an assistant. We fetch your pages the way those crawlers do and close the gap in the template.
Choosing well
Melbourne has a great many providers, from one-person consultants to large agencies. A few questions separate them quickly.
Ask who implements the fixes once the audit is done, and whether they can change your templates and redirects or only send a list to your developer. Ask whose accounts the data lives in. And ask how they would handle your service areas: listen for a few strong pages rather than a page for every suburb.
Be wary of a ranking position promised by a date, links bought in bulk, fake reviews or reviews paid for only when they are positive, which the ACCC warns can mislead consumers under the Australian Consumer Law, and long lock-in contracts. If being able to visit an office in person matters to you, choose a firm with a Melbourne office; we do not have one. Our guide to choosing an SEO company in Australia lists the questions to put to every provider, us included.
The gap
What we find on Melbourne sites is rarely exotic: a few decisions that made sense at the time and now quietly cap how far the site can reach.
Wondering why a business across the Yarra outranks you in your own suburb?
The free audit answers it. You will hear plainly whether the gap is technical, content, local or authority.
Examples
Illustrative examples of common problems and the work that addresses them. They are not named client projects or results.
For example, a group of cafes in Fitzroy and Brunswick might appear on delivery and booking platforms but rarely as itself. Accurate profiles for each venue and a site that states the menu, hours and booking options plainly give people a direct route to the business.
Aim: direct bookings and visits from search
A plumber with a depot in Dandenong might show in the map results near the depot and nowhere near the new estates in Clyde or Officer. The work is a service-area profile set up properly, a few strong pages for the areas covered and a review routine the team will keep up.
Aim: being found for the job in the areas actually covered
A physio or dental clinic in Box Hill might see many patients who search in Mandarin or Cantonese, with a site only in English. A properly linked second language version, written with a native speaker and within AHPRA’s advertising rules, gives those searches somewhere to land.
Aim: visible in the languages patients use
An engineering firm in Dandenong South or Laverton North might keep its capabilities, materials and certifications in PDFs that search engines barely read. Clear pages answering buyers’ technical questions give both Google and assistants something to cite.
Aim: found by procurement teams searching by capability
How we work
The audit is free. What follows is ordered by what each change is worth, and nothing goes live without your approval.
A crawl compared with what Google has indexed, how your pages render, your Google Business Profile, where you show in the map results across the suburbs you serve, and how AI assistants answer your buyers’ questions. Findings in writing.
We weigh each finding by what fixing it is likely to be worth against the effort. Together we agree which services, suburbs and languages come first, and note what we suggest leaving alone.
We make the changes: templates, redirects, schema, internal links, profiles and copy, in your CMS or codebase. You approve anything that touches a live page.
A short monthly note with numbers from your own Search Console and analytics, enquiries where they can be tracked, and AI assistant answers checked over time. If something did not work, we say so.
Clear scope · Regular demos · Full handover
Honest fit
SEO builds over months and is not every business’s best first channel. If it is not yours, you will hear that on the first call.
Areas served
Service areas, not premises: all of the work is done remotely. The right mix of areas for you depends on where your customers are.
FAQ
What Melbourne owners and marketing leads ask before they commission SEO. Ask anything else in the form.
Still have a question?
Ask us directly. A senior engineer reads every question.
Ask about your projectNo. SpiderHunts Technologies Ltd is a UK company with its registered office at 182-184 High Street N, Office 14607, London E6 2JA, and the team works remotely. There is no office, staff, entity or phone number of ours in Australia. If meeting in person matters to you, a provider with a Melbourne office is the better choice, and we will tell you so on the first call.
Calls are booked in your working day on Melbourne time. Victoria moves from AEST to AEDT for daylight saving between October and April, and the UK changes its clocks on different dates, so invitations are always sent in your time zone.
Not reliably, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. Google’s map results weigh how close a business is to the searcher, so a Richmond address shows most strongly around Richmond. We can make sure the profile is complete and accurate, help you earn reviews properly, and build pages that let your website rank in the ordinary results for the outer areas you genuinely serve.
Usually not. Pages that differ only by the suburb name rarely rank and can weaken the rest of the site. A smaller set of pages for the areas that bring in real work, each with specific detail, tends to do better and is far easier to keep accurate.
No. Google’s guidelines treat virtual offices as ineligible unless they are staffed during business hours, and profiles on ineligible addresses can be suspended. If you serve customers at their homes or sites, set the profile up as a service-area business with the address hidden. We will not create or verify a profile on an address you do not operate from.
Our Get Found in AI Search retainer covers technical SEO, AEO and GEO. It is priced from £1,500 a month and opens with the free audit. One-off technical, local or migration work is quoted in writing after a free call, with scope and exclusions agreed before work starts. Invoices can be raised in AUD, USD or GBP, as set out in the quote. Our packages page lists the published starting prices.
Technical fixes can show up once search engines recrawl the affected pages. Competitive Melbourne searches usually take months, depending on how crowded your suburbs are and the state of the site, and nobody can honestly promise a position by a date. The audit names the changes we expect to register first, and the monthly note tracks them.
Yes. The work is remote, so it runs the same way for a business in Geelong, Ballarat or Bendigo as for one in the CBD. Regional searches are often less crowded, so the plan may lean more on local profiles and service pages than on building authority.
You contract with SpiderHunts Technologies Ltd, registered in England and Wales under number 16718403. We are happy to work under your own services agreement or purchase order process. Because the invoice comes from a UK supplier, it is a cross-border purchase, so your accountant should confirm how GST applies in your situation.
