What the form still does better
- Structured information you always need
- File attachments
- Longer, considered enquiries
- Visitors who dislike chat interfaces, and there are many
Removing the form because you added chat loses the enquiries from people who prefer to write it all down. That is a real segment and often a serious one.
What chat does better
- Answering the one question that was blocking a purchase
- Capturing visitors who would never have filled in a form
- Qualifying through conversation rather than fields
- Working at any hour
Make them work together
The bot should be able to offer the form when an enquiry is genuinely detailed, and the form's confirmation page can mention the bot for quick questions.
Both should reach the same place, so nothing is tracked in two systems.
Watch what happens to form volume
After adding chat, form submissions often fall while total enquiries rise. That is the system working — simple questions get answered without a form, and more visitors make contact overall.
If total enquiries fall, something is wrong: check whether the bot is obstructing rather than helping.
