Conversion Improvements That Actually Work
Last updated:
Start with the price question
The most common reason a visitor leaves without enquiring is that they could not work out roughly what it costs and did not want to ask.
Publishing a range costs you the enquiries that were never going to convert and wins the ones from people comparing three suppliers.
Make contact obvious everywhere
- Phone number visible without scrolling, on every page
- A contact route at the end of every service page
- Click-to-call on mobile, tested
- Not hidden behind a menu on a phone
Shorten the form
Every field costs completions. Name, contact and message is usually enough to start a conversation; everything else can be asked in the reply.
Removing three fields from a form frequently produces a measurable increase in submissions, and it costs nothing.
Add proof that is specific
- Named testimonials with a person and a business, not initials
- Photographs of your actual work
- Numbers — years trading, jobs completed, response time
- Certifications and memberships, shown
Measure before and after
Change one thing, wait four weeks, compare enquiries. Changing six things at once tells you nothing about which worked.
Four weeks either side is the minimum for a meaningful comparison on most business sites.
