"Could you do the insides next time you're round?"
A customer asks if you can do the inside of the windows next time. Next time is a Tuesday, when she is at work. You text to find a time. She suggests a Saturday. You are not in that area on a Saturday. Back and forth, and eventually it is booked for a Thursday afternoon, when you are on the other side of town, so you drive over specially.
Other customers ask for insides before Christmas, or once in spring. You say yes to all of them and write them on a list. By December the list is long, the days are short and half the customers cannot be home when you are nearby.
Inside cleans need the customer, the round doesn't
A round works because customers do not need to be home. Inside cleans break that: they need an appointment, they take longer, and they are seasonal. Handled by text alongside the round, they cause trouble for both.
- Appointments are arranged by back-and-forth texts.
- Slots offered do not consider where you will be that day.
- Inside cleans take a variable amount of time that is not recorded.
- Customers are not reminded, so they are not in.
- Seasonal demand, such as before Christmas, piles up unplanned.
Special trips, no-shows and overloaded Decembers
Driving across town for one inside clean eats the profit on it. Customers who forget and are out cost a wasted slot. Overloaded seasonal weeks push the round back. And the texts and calls to arrange each appointment are unpaid time.
There is also a missed opportunity. Inside cleans are often wanted by the customers who value your work most, and they are a natural add-on at a higher price per visit. When booking them is a chore, you stop mentioning them, and customers who would happily pay never get asked.
Winter makes it worse. Short daylight leaves less room in each day, and an unplanned inside clean in the middle of an afternoon can push the last few outside cleans into the dark.
Inside clean booking that follows the round
We build a booking tool for appointment work, linked to your round.
- Inside cleans have a duration based on the house, which you set per customer or from their house details.
- When a customer wants an inside clean, they get a link showing slots on the days you are already in their area, around the round.
- Where no slot suits, they can ask for a different time, and you decide whether to offer it.
- Booked inside cleans are placed in the round day at the right point, with their duration, so the day is planned realistically.
- Customers get a confirmation and a reminder the day before, with a simple way to rearrange.
- Seasonal offers, such as insides before Christmas, can be sent to chosen customers early, so bookings are spread over several weeks.
| Booking step | Today | With appointment booking |
|---|---|---|
| Finding a time | Texts back and forth | Link with slots near your round |
| Where you are that day | Not considered | Slots only on nearby days |
| How long it takes | Guessed | Duration per house |
| Customer forgets | Wasted slot | Reminder the day before |
| Pre-Christmas rush | Piles up late | Offer sent early to spread bookings |
Insides that fit around the outsides
Inside cleans are booked on days you are nearby, so there are fewer special trips. Customers are home because they were reminded. Round days include inside cleans at their real length, so they do not overrun. And seasonal demand is spread out, so December is busy rather than impossible.
On a normal day, the round list shows an inside clean at a particular house at the time it was booked, with its duration, and the rest of the day planned around it.
You can also see across the year how much inside work you do and when it peaks, which helps decide whether to promote it in quieter months when there is room in the days.
